Deep and Solemn Silence
$120.00 CAD
The inspiration for this print is Douthat State Park, Virginia. Traveling through Virginia, reading Michael Shaara’s The Killer Angels we passed through the Shenandoah Valley lost in thoughts of the past, imagining the sound of boots on the ground and armies marching. ⠀
We camped at Douthat all alone – the last night the campground end still open – no sign of life and no sound but the wind. Exploring the park, wandering along the trails in filtered sunlight through a silent woodland turning gold to red, footfalls swallowed by fallen leaves.
Were the ghosts of men who might have died there still there? The red on the leaves looked like blood.
Minor variations are possible, as a result of the technique by which reduction prints are made, and are what makes each print in the edition a ‘unique art piece’.
